You aren’t wasting energy heating up the air in the room; you’re hitting the target directly. Here’s why that matters: normally, filaments evaporate over time. But the halogen gas actually pushes the tungsten back onto the wire. It’s a clever little trick that keeps the lamp living longer. For the connections, we usually go with R7s or SK15 bases. They just snap in. It makes the initial wiring a breeze and means you can swap a burnt-out bulb in seconds without a whole production meltdown. Real-world advice You’ll see these doing the heavy lifting in PET blowing machines or plastic curing lines. The radiation just cuts through the material. But, a word of caution. Because these are so powerful and compact, they runhot. Like, really hot. If your reflector gets dusty or your airflow is blocked, you’re going to fry the ends of the tube. Make sure your housing is built to take the heat, or you’ll end up with warped mounting brackets. Also, double-check your controllers. These lamps have a big “inrush current” when they first kick on, and if your gear isn’t rated for it, you’ll be tripping breakers every time you start a cold run.
