If you’ve ever struggled to find that “sweet spot” between heating a surface quickly and actually getting the heat to soak deep into a material, this is where the 625mm halogen lamp comes in. It sits right in the middle of the spectrum. It’s not as aggressive as short-wave, but it’s got more punch than long-wave.
The Nitty-Gritty on Power
First off, the 400V rating is a big deal. We built this specifically for industrial grids and those heavy-duty series-wired heating banks. At 2000W, this thing is a beast. It pumps out a ton of heat over that 625mm length, which means you aren’t sitting around waiting for the machine to warm up. One quick warning though. Because it’s so powerful and wrapped in quartz, it gets hot. Like, really hot. Make sure your housing has plenty of airflow. If you skimp on the venting, your sockets are going to fry, and nobody wants to deal with a burnout mid-shift.
Why the Half-White Coating Matters
You’ll notice a half-white coating on the quartz. It’s not for looks. A clear tube just blasts raw radiation. But that white coating? It bounces some of that energy back inside, cranking up the surface temperature of the quartz. The result is a much smoother, more uniform heat. You won’t get those annoying “hot spots” that can ruin a workpiece. Everything just heats up evenly.
Putting it to Work
These are perfect for when you need a quick swap on PET blowing lines, paint curing, or plastic welding setups. We use halogen gas inside the tube to keep the filament from evaporating too fast, so these tend to last much longer than your standard IR tubes. If you want the best results, pair it with a precise PID controller. These lamps react almost instantly to voltage changes. Just a heads-up before you plug it in: since it requires 400V, it won’t work on a standard 230V line. You’ll need a transformer or a specific series setup. Definitely double-check your voltage rails before you flip the switch.
