Think of these lamps as more than just a light bulb. They’re actually high-density infrared heaters. We design these tubes to shoot heat straight from the filament to your workpiece using short-wave radiation. The best part? You can heat exactly what you need without having to waste time and energy baking an entire oven or chamber. Getting the Power Right Here’s the thing about wattage and voltage: they control your heat flux. When you pack high wattage into a short tube, you get some seriously intense heat. But you’ve got to be careful with your power supply. If you run the lamp at a lower voltage than it asks for, you lose that infrared punch. On the flip side, if you over-volt it, that tungsten filament is going to evaporate way too fast. Your transformer settings need to be spot on, or you’re just throwing money away on burnt-out lamps. The Glass and the Gear We use high-purity quartz glass for a simple reason: it doesn’t freak out when the temperature spikes. Standard glass would just shatter the second you flipped the switch. As for the connectors, you’ll mostly see R7s or SK15. They’re the industry standard because they actually stay put. They won’t wiggle loose when your machines start vibrating, which saves you a huge headache down the road. Some of our tubes even come with special coatings. These either bounce the heat backward or filter out certain wavelengths so the lamp doesn’t accidentally melt its own housing. Real-World Use You’ll see these working hard in PET blowing, plastic welding, and drying lines. They’re great as drop-in replacements when your old heaters finally give up. Since they hit their target temperature in seconds, you can flick them on and off to keep your tolerances tight. Just a heads-up: these things getinsanely hot. Hot enough to melt your wiring if you aren’t careful. Make sure your shielding and cooling fans are sorted. If your airflow gets blocked, the quartz envelope will soften and the whole thing will fail. Not a great way to start a Tuesday.
